A community ceramic studio opens its doors, Uncommon Cause celebrates 50 years, and a brand-new monster festival takes over Mill Race Park. Come be part of it.

Since 1989, CAAC has been strengthening community life in Columbus — through exhibitions, public art, live performances, and programs that welcome everyone in.

This year, three initiatives shaped by years of serving artists, makers, families, and neighbors are coming to life. Each one is yours to be part of.

Mill Race Monster Festival

COMING SOON

For years, our community has asked for access to ceramics. Studio C is our answer — a welcoming, fully equipped ceramic studio where anyone 13+ can take a class, work independently, or get their hands dirty with clay for the very first time.

JUNE 26, 2026

Come celebrate 50 years of creativity in Columbus with Uncommon Cause: Monster Ball. The evening’s Fund-a-Need will directly support the inaugural Mill Race Monster Festival, while the event fuels CAAC’s broader initiatives and mission to strengthen the community through arts and culture.

OCTOBER 23–25, 2026

In 1974, something green and hairy was spotted in Mill Race Park. The story made the local papers, captured imaginations across Columbus, and never quite went away. Now we're turning that beloved local legend into the Mill Race Monster Festival. Come be part of the story.

HAPPENING YEAR-ROUND

Studio C, Uncommon Cause, and the Mill Race Monster Festival join a full calendar of programs that keep creativity alive in Columbus and beyond all year long. Here are a few favorites.

​🎭 Youth Arts — Free monthly programming for young audiences like First Fridays, Battle of the Bands, and more. Bring the whole family!

🖼️ 411 Gallery Exhibitions — Curated shows on the 6th Street Arts Alley, featuring local and regional artists.​​

​

🎨 Artist-Led Workshops — Hands-on creative workshops taught by local artists. No experience needed.

🌳 Arts Alley Parklet — A vibrant pedestrian-only creative hub in downtown Columbus with murals, public furniture, and year-round community-led events. Come check it out.

🌐 Regional Arts Programs — As the Indiana Arts Commission's Regional Arts Partner, CAAC facilitates grants, training, and capacity-building across nine Indiana counties – fostering local, accessible arts initiatives throughout the region.
