Uncommon Cause returns for its 50th Anniversary with Monster Ball, a bold and imaginative celebration of the arts in Columbus. Join us for a one-of-a-kind evening filled with music, dancing, art, and creative surprises inside the iconic architecture of The Commons.

This milestone event carries forward a legacy that has supported the arts in our community for five decades. Proceeds fuel CAAC’s year-round programs and this year’s Fund a Need will help launch the Mill Race Monster Festival, a new community celebration inspired by our local cryptid legend.

Mill Race Monster Festival​​


This year’s Fund a Need supports the launch of the Mill Race Monster Festival, a new community celebration inspired by Columbus’s legendary local cryptid. Rooted in the 1974 sightings at Mill Race Park, the festival will bring the story to life through art, creativity, and shared experience.


Funds raised will help build artist-led installations, hands-on activities, performances, and imaginative experiences throughout the park. The goal is simple and powerful: create a one-of-a-kind festival that invites the community to participate, tell our story, and build a tradition that belongs to Columbus.
