6th Street Arts Alley is getting a bold new look—and an even bigger purpose.
Celebrated as one of Columbus’ most iconic public spaces, it’s known for its four vibrant murals, lively events, and status as the city’s #1 selfie spot. This spring, 6th Street will transform into a seasonal pedestrian zone!
The space will reopen as the Arts Alley Parklet—featuring a vibrant new mural, colorful furniture, and shady spots to gather. This reimagined destination invites you to meet up, hang out, and experience more. Look forward to expanded CAAC programming, community-led events, and a refreshed sense of place that welcomes everyone.
The space features playful public furniture, a new layout for flexible programming, free public Wi-Fi, and upgraded electrical access to support concerts, vendors, and more!

One Line at a Time!
Make your mark on the Arts Alley—literally! Join us for a community paint day where volunteers help bring the mural to life, one bold line at a time.
Public Paint Days:
Saturday, May 17 & Sunday, May 18
Each participant gets to paint a single line stretching curb to curb. Sign up is first come, first served—or sponsor a line to guarantee your spot and show your support for public art in Columbus.
Volunteer sign-up opens April 30. This activity is recommended for ages 18 and older; youth ages 14–17 may participate with an accompanying adult. No artistic experience is required, but participants should be able to chalk a line on the ground and use a roller on a pole to paint while standing.

Phase 1 of 6th Street Arts Alley
In 2021, local design firm LAA Office developed a scheme to turn the area between Washington and Franklin Streets into a place where people can hang out, have fun, and enjoy events. Phase 1 included a 10,000 sq ft ground-plane mural created by LAA Office with help from IU Architecture students and the community. The addition of custom stools, moveable planters, and a mural Odd Fellows building by Nick Abtract creates a room-like feeling.
With close proximity to art and cultural organizations and local businesses, this creative placemaking project designed by LAA Office is shaping 6th Street into a dynamic space for programs and community activities at the heart of the city.
