[un]conventional, an exhibition of contemporary furniture design guest curated by Christopher West

The Indiana University Center for Art+Design Columbus is pleased to present [un]conventional, an exhibition of contemporary furniture design guest curated by Christopher West. The exhibition will be on display at the IUCA+D gallery in Columbus from November 8 through late December. On Friday, November 8 please join us at the reception for the artists from 6 – 8pm.

[un]conventional showcases the work of multiple designers working in many different mediums. For this exhibition Mr. West has pulled work from studios and collections through-out the Midwest.

Featured in this exhibition are Indianapolis based Emily Kennerk who combines traditional forms to present them in new and dynamic ways; Detroit based Jack Craig whose work is inspired by the resilient city in which he lives; Jurgen Bey, Rotterdam, Netherlands, who believes that the solutions to everything we want lie in the world around us; and many others.

Participating designers include central-Indiana based Glen Fuller, Emily Kennerk, Christopher Stuart, Colin Tury and Lauren Zoll; Detroit designers Jack Craig and Chris Schanck; Taryn Cassella from California; Chicago based Steven Haulenbeek as well as Tejo Remy from Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Christopher West is an independent curator and art consultant based in Indianapolis.

The exhibit is free and open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 1pm – 5pm
