A “Three-Dimensional Art” Show, sponsored by Brownstown Fund for the Arts, will be held Saturday, January 14, and Sunday, January 15, at W.R. Ewing in Brownstown.

The emphasis on this year’s show will be art in fabric. Many articles of vintage clothing will be on display, including five generations of a family’s baptismal gowns and a four-generation wedding dress, as well as several dresses worn in the Miss America pageant by Katie Stam, the 2010 Miss America from Jackson County.

Vintage military uniforms, a hat collection, and adult clothing representative of the 1960’s, 1970’s, and 1980’s will be part of the show. An antique apron collection, vintage children’s clothing, and antique jewelry will also be on display.

Tapestry, tatting, and rug-making are other aspects of textile art that will be shown, as well as pottery, jewelry, metal sculpture, and wood carvings. Some items (not including the vintage items) will be available for purchase. Blake Hackman, chairman of the show, stated that, since the first two art shows (in Decembers of 2009 and 2010) mainly featured paintings, the Fund for the Arts Committee decided that it would be good to emphasize different types of art this year.
