CAAC Services
Programming
The Columbus Area Arts Council provides a variety of quality arts and entertainment events, exhibits and programs in the Columbus area. Many of these programs, such as First Fridays for Families and JCBNeighborFEST! are free to the general public.
In association with the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department, the Arts Council serves as programmer and manager of the Custer-Nugent Amphitheater in Mill Race Park.
Services
The Arts Council serves community, governmental and civic organizations. Services include publicity and marketing assistance, information and referral, administrative support and arts advocacy services. In cooperation with the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department, the Arts Council also provides programming and technical support at the Custer-Nugent Amphitheater in Mill Race Park.
Publicity and Marketing
The Arts Council distributes a monthly electronic newsletter, provides press release service, and secures free and reduced advertising for the arts in Columbus.
Ticket Office Services
The Arts Council's Ticket Center provides area residents with one central location to purchase tickets for arts and cultural activities.
Advocacy and Representation
The Arts Council remains at the forefront of issues affecting the arts by active involvement in local, state and national service organizations. Arts Council memberships include the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, the Indiana Presenters Network, the Indiana Coalition for the Arts, Americans for the Arts, Association of Performing Arts Presenters, and VSA arts of Indiana.
Planning
The Arts Council maintains a Cultural Calendar listing arts-related events scheduled in the Columbus community. Each winter, representatives from arts organizations, the Parks and Recreation Department, and area schools convene to develop a schedule for events at mutually agreed times, dates, and locations. Providing this information to participating organizations greatly reduces scheduling conflicts.
